1、Nowadays, the declining level of public health has drawn a wide range of concern in general public. However, in terms of the measures of improving public health, conflicting views are presented. In my opinion, flexible and fixed measures are expected to take to tackle this worrying trend.
2、Increasing the number of sports facilities is one of the widely supported measures which is thought can encourage more individuals to do exercise and keep health directly. The advocators believe that more easy-to-reach sports facilities such as sports centers and fitness equipment near the communities can help residents exercise regularly and adopt a more positive life. What’s more, various of sports facilities can cater for all ages’ needs and appetites and are likely to start a national campaign for people to exercise and keep fit.
3、However, there may be better ways to tackle this problem. Adding the number of facilities only is good but not enough for general public, since the interests in sports are not universal. This measure may have positive effect on those sports funs while do nothing on those who are not. So, we need to think of other ways to improve the public health levels as a whole, such as restrictions on unhealthy food consumption and promotion on green and healthy production. Even improving public transport would help: it takes longer walk to the bus stop than to the car.
4、Overall, it is too narrow to rely on increasing sports facilities to improve public health and this would not have the satisfied results. Flexible and fixed measures are expected to take which can not only encourage people to do more exercise but also help general public to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
