On the Characters in Trojan War

  Four years later, I have seen the Trojan War for the second time,and today I’d like to talk about some of my own feeling on the main characters, Hector, Achilles and Paris.You may ask which one I love most.From the order I put they three, you could draw a conclusion.

Paris is the youngest prince of Troy as well as the world most handsome man as a legend. From his love story with Helen, he is a typical representive of man who love the beauty more than his country.His insistence and enthusiasm built the world finest and bravest love tale,both times,made love,the widely read topic rise to a new level.Trojan War distroyed Troy,thousands of lives suffering.However,as the blasting fuse of this war,Paris had never been the sinner spurned by the people.Even when we  mention this war,most of us regard Paris as a hero of an beautiful love story to speak highly of,rather than a sinner to criticize or spit on.And I think all this profited from love.The brilliance of love has covered all   the stain and made this war become a fairy tale to pass on.

However,as the prince,Paris ignore the whole country and people’s safety,then went on his own way.On this,Paris is a one hundred percent selfish and self-centered man.According to Chinese traditional view,this character may be more obvious.The Confucianism that has existed for nearly 2000 years always advovates wholehearted devotion to public duty,attention to the interests of the whole,even the thoery of keeping heavenly principle ,killing people’s desire as well as the individualism.So if the love story between Paris and Helen happened in China,it would only be the tragedy betweem themselves,and couldn't go up to the ruin of a country.Of cource,such story is not fresh in China.Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai,JiaoZhongqing and LiuLanzhi,NiuLan and ZhiNv.are the examples.To remember,all I said just now is nothing but supposition.Paris and Helen’ s story happened in European where individualism is so outstanding.That’s the reason why Troy War progressed so smoothly and two person’s destiny could affect a country’s vicissitude.Actually such instance is not unique in European and the famous dramer Romeo and Juliet under Shakespeares’ hands is one of the big family.

So later on,Paris’ father and elder brother start the war with the Greece for the love out of logical thinking.While in reality,people’s emotion to this young prince is definitely not hate,and even there exists a little hate,that could be ignore.At last love and delight takes more place.

Achilles is an extraordinary hero，He is young ,smart,brave,powerful,musclar and invincible···

Achilles loves his mother Tethys;On the way of expedition to the east with Agamemnon, he cried and quarrelled with Agamemnon for his favourite maid,Briseis was taken away.When he felt his honourable reputation get voilated,he went back into his tent,absent from the war for a long time. He put full trust on his old servant Phoenix and let him sleep beside his own feet.In the war ,he is aggressive, full of vengeance,and he is so curious to the enemy.For instance, after killing Hector,he fixed Hector’s body behind his chariot and cicled Troy.But when the old King of Troy come to the Greek barracks and begged for his son’s body in front of Achilles,his heart got soft and stretched his hand to the old father.

Achilles is a hero with complicated personalities and plentiful affection.He had deep love for his mother;he showed respect and love to the old; He devoted to his friends;He expressed tender care to the weak.In a word ,Achilles is a man of varied characteristics.

With emotional mood,I will talk about the real hero to my self,the oldest prince of Troy,Hector.Compared with Achilles, he is not strong enough.And standing with Paris, he is not graceful enough.But the point is that he has the most greatest character that nothing can match.He loves his family.In the so-called Party for Peace,he said no to the belle granted by Greek King,because he realized that his wife was waiting for his triumphant return in Troy.Every time Hector held his son,he will take down the helmet and kiss the baby’s forehead with father’s love.He loves his country.Undoubtedly he is a worrior that had seen countless slaughters,killed innumberable people,entered uncounted wars.But he is not searching for honor as Achilles and he never persue the endless power and stateliness as Greek King.In each war,he just fought for peace,for the harmony and happy life of his people,for the whole Troy. He love his people.Not wanting his families to become captures,he led his wife to remember the secret path before the war in case of emergency.He is really a man.When Achilles went to the foot of Troy alone to revenge his wrongly killed cousin,calling his name licentiously,he could have order the toxotaes to shoot Achilles lumpedly so that the Greek right-hand warrior Achilles would die.But he didn’t do this.He chose to stand out like a man. Hector is sane。After Troy getting great success in the war with Greece,following up a victry with hot pursuit is a good choice。Instead,he pesuade his father not to chase,for he never forget the original intention of Troy War------Peace.

On the other hand,to himself,Hector is happy,because he has great idea and all his life he work hard for till his death.

Up to now, I still remember Hector’s motto:

   All my life, I've lived by a code.And the code is simple:Honor the gods, love your woman and defend your country.Troy is mother to us all.Fight for her!

Maybe my dull words can not express my respect to him,but I think he is the grandest hero in Troy War.

History made heroes.Every one is a passer by ,but you can made you name on the board of history.
