This August I went to a two-week long English camp which was held byEnglish Beacon in Yantai city, Shandong Province. There were over a hundredmiddle school students from all over the country and thirty experts in Englishteaching participating in this exciting camp.

While we were there, it was required that we speak only English to ourteachers and with each other. There were many activities which were funny andhelped us to strengthen our oral English skills, such as, the Second AnnualNational Debate for Middle School Students,the Third National English SpeechCompetition for Middle School Students and English parties. We also visited manyplaces of interest.

Learning English was exciting and the teachers were very friendly andhelpful. This camp was a real life-changing experience that I will neverforget.

When Miss Li found out my situation, sheencouraged me and lent me a hand. With her help, I becameinterested in English and eventually got high marks.

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether anentrance fee should be charged for parks. 60% of us schoolmates think that anentrance fee do not meet peoples expectations, for a park is considered to be aplace where the public can have a good time when they are not busy either athome or at work. If an entrance fee must be paid by the visitors for a park, itwill be necessary to build a gate and surrounding walls. In the end a city willtake on a bad look. 40% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee can beaccepted, but it must not be too expensive. The money from ticket selling can beused for paying the gardeners in the park and buying some other kinds of flowersand trees.
